Faith Mission Kitchen Volunteers

The LSS Faith Mission Kitchens serve 600 meals per day, 365 days per year – an impossible task without volunteers who assist in providing, preparing, serving and cleaning-up after meals, as well as sorting and storing donated food.  Groups of up to 8 volunteers can assist in the kitchens.

Meal Provider Guidelines

Donation Center Volunteers

Faith Mission receives in-kind donations of clothing, personal hygiene and household items that benefit our clients.  Volunteers play a key role in sorting and storing these items so that they can be quickly distributed to those who need them.  Volunteers also assemble “move out boxes” for our residents transitioning into the community and fill shelter requests.
Individuals and groups of up to 10 volunteers can sign up for weekly shifts.

Shower Center Volunteers

A hot shower can offer dignity and rejuvenation.  From outside the shower area, volunteers greet guests and manage the flow of people into the shower area, providing towels and toiletries and assisting guests in obtaining clothing from the donation center as needed.

Resource Center Volunteers

Volunteers assist clients with job searches and applications, resume writing and interviewing skills to help them move towards employment. Volunteers must be 21 years old.

Faith Mission Health Center

Doctors, dentists, nurses and other medical professionals are needed to staff The Health Center at LSS Faith Mission. The Health Center offers medical, dental, podiatry, vision and general medical services at no cost to more than 4,000 individuals experiencing homelessness each year.  Non-professional clinic volunteers can also assist the clinic manager by greeting and signing in clients, pulling and filing patient charts, and monitoring the waiting room.  Volunteers must be 18 years old.

All Faith Mission volunteers or group coordinators must attend volunteer orientation prior to serving.  All volunteers must be age 14 and older with a responsible adult. To sign up for volunteer orientation, click here. If you have already attended orientation and are currently a Faith Mission volunteer please click here to see our available shifts in VolunteerHub.

Provide a Meal Volunteers

We strive to provide nourishing and comforting meals to our residents while they are living in their temporary home.  Meals provided with love by community groups help us to reach this goal while also allowing us to divert resources to services and programming for residents.
